Song Of The Day: Goo Goo Dolls ‘Ain’t That Unusual.’ A lot of people don’t realize that before ‘Iris,’ the Goo Goo Dolls definitely had an edge to them. If you listen to their first few records (‘Jed,’ ‘Hold Me Up,’ and even aspects of ‘Superstar Carwash,’) they had a lot of hard rock and punk influences. This song fits the perfect blue print of pop rock; phenomenal song.
And the Boston band Transit did a cover of this; also really good.
